## Description

As Marqeta's Staff Software Engineer on the Core Edge Processing team, you will write and review production code at the heart of our processing systems, drive the initiatives that make them faster and more reliable, and help set the engineering bar for a team running real-time, always-on payment infrastructure. Core Edge Processing owns the systems that route and authorize transactions across card networks, along with the cryptographic infrastructure underneath them. This is a hands-on role where the quality of your code directly shapes whether transactions succeed.

 - Ship and refine production code across our routing and processing stack, where every millisecond and every line counts

 - Lead initiatives that make our platform more reliable, faster, and more cost-efficient

 - Shape system design alongside your EM and fellow engineers, from data model changes to failure and degradation strategy to blast-radius containment

 - Take on complex, mission-critical codebases and lift the engineering standard for everyone around you

 - Mentor engineers and guide technical direction at the Staff level
   
   

Who You Are

 - An engineer with 8+ years of experience who is still deep in the code every day

 - A Java expert with strong fundamentals in concurrency, performance, and building reliable systems at scal
