About the team
- The Mission: Lead the engineering team building the Requirements Management API and infrastructure that enables Stripe to collect, explain, track, and resolve risk requirements throughout the user lifecycle from onboarding through ongoing monitoring. This work makes Risk reusable across products, markets, and user types, while helping Stripe expand regulated financial products without rebuilding compliance and risk workflows for each new use case.
- The Scale: The team’s interfaces and standards influence how requirements are created and fulfilled across Risk, Onboarding, and product integrations—not just a single product experience. This requires broad cross-team influence across 6+ teams. It is currently 6 people and actively hiring.
- The Complexity: This role has technical complexity in both API design and system scalability / reliability. The underlying system is used broadly across all of Stripe, serves a high volume of traffic, and has critical SLOs backing meaningful user-facing APIs. The role also requires strong product judgment:
